Arred and I spent our 46th month together (yay! ♥) in Tagaytay and we were with some of my former HF co-staffers Mica, Millie, and Marco. <ignore> Oh hey, three Ms! </ignore>

And yes, we went to Java Jazz because we love it there and Mica sort of begged me to take her to that lovely cafe, which Hun and I consider “our” chill spot. This is our 7th time there, by the way. We cannot not go to Tagaytay without having a little Java Jazz moment. It’s like going to your home town without visiting your relatives. Not cool.

I’m pretty sure the three Ms (musketeers? lol) loved our food and the ambience of the cafe, judging by their wow’s and mmm’s.

I’d love to take anyone to Java Jazz. Just say please. ;)

    a current addiction

Lately, I’ve been scouring the intarwebs for some bad-ass chocolate cake. It all started when I saw a picture of a pineapple upside down cake. I know it ain’t chocolate, but I just felt extremely disgusted by the caramel or whatever it was that made the cake so glossy. It’ll be too sweet for me, so different from a chocolate cake, I thought. Then, the search began.

Chocolate Cake by Mary Grace Cafe.

It was May 12 (Ace’s birthday celebration) when I decided to buy a box of this evil cake. I bought the 8-inch cake for a little over Php400, I think. Traveling with this cake was difficult for me ‘cause it was really heavy. I’ve brought home quite a lot cakes, mind you. But this one was heavier than a typical 8-inch cake.

Taste-wise, I was quite satisfied. The flavor’s rich, but was a little too sweet for me. It may have been because of the caramel layer. Or was that custard? Ugh, I dunno. Anyway, my tongue wasn’t able to recognize anything bittersweet, which is upsetting ‘cause I wanted a hint of bitterness, much like the taste of dark chocolate.

Another thing I didn’t like about this cake is that it easily fills up your stomach. It wasn’t as fluffy and light as I thought it would be. Then again, it was heavy when I bought it. Why did I ever think it’ll be airy? Oh well.

This cake’s still on the uber-sweet side. However, I was actually able to enjoy eating a slice. I guess it’s the kind of cake that shouldn’t be eaten in less than a minute, which is my kind of dessert. I don’t like eating one bite of cake after another. That spells headache. lol

The cake itself is pretty light on the tummy, which is always a good thing since I get full in a snap. Thus, light and fluffy cakes always win my stomach-athlon.

Also on the plus side, a whole choco cake would cost you just below Php500. That’s a good deal, I should say.

I’m not an expert on cakes, people. I just happen to have a snap addiction to chocolate cakes, and a cyber world to document that addiction. Heee. I’ll be a bit more “food blogger-ish” on my future entries and post a few pics. Ha, I’m excited.

Anyhow, expect these babies on my future entries:

    - BTS (Better Than Sex) cake by Karen Young
    - Nono’s Chocolate Oblivion by Classic Confections
    - Meline’s Chocolate Cake by Classic Confections
    - Chocolate Cake by House of Silvanas
    - Choco True Confection by Cheesecake Etc.
    - Classic Chocolate Cake by Chocolat
    - Chocolate Moist Cake by Lobby Cafe
    - Ms. Polly’s Chocolate Cake
    - Choco Decadent by Miss Desserts

If you know other good choco cakes, please please please tell me. I’d be sure to give those a try. And, if you happen to be a kind friend, choose one among these yummy chocolate cakes and deliver it to me. Heee! :)

#23 (a bowl of delicious soup)
Paul Calvin’s potato leak soup is heaven on a bowl. It’s so good you’d want the flavor to last on your tongue.

    #25 (carbs overload)

For my first pre-birthday dinner with Hun, we went to Paul Calvin’s Deli and ordered two rice meals and a pasta dish with sliced bread. We both ended up feeling so bloated, but extremely happy. :)

I would forever love Papa’s extra spicy spaghetti. He always says there’s always room for more chili. I agree. :)

let the chase begin

Life didn't promise any of us candies and rainbows. As it is, we have to carry ourselves, burdens and all. Knowing that is good, but putting it into action would make it better. Heck, it could even make you happier.

Books have been and will always be the companions I would never regret having, the friends I adore spending my time with, and the life coaches I can never be deaf to.
