JunBitches and Bananas
Take five girls with no bridal shower planning experience, ask them to whip one up in less than a month, and I bet they’d go bananas.
That’s what happened to us.
Planning. A month ago, we started planning for Mitch’s bridal shower. The biggest dilemma was the date. Initially, we wanted it to happen overnight, but because of work and vacation plans, we had to settle on June 20, a declared non-working holiday (Thank you PNoy). With the date set, we planned out the location, we had backup plans, we knew where to buy the cake, we knew who to contact, and that was that. A week before the event, we started rushing things up. Cha and Yayi were in charge of getting in touch with Mitch’s family and husband-to-be. With the wedding less than a month away before the scheduled BS (bridal shower), we had to make sure the busy bride-to-be wouldn’t make other plans. Thankfully, we got the assurance that Mitch would be there and we got permission to borrow Ate Anj’s condo unit.
Pre-BS blues. I woke up to an awfully uncomfortable June 20. The sky was dark and it was drizzling. I had no choice, though, but to just cross my fingers and hope the weather would be a little less gloomy. Lady Luck must’ve been with me since the rain poured only when I was in Makati. I met up with Yhow, we picked up the cake I ordered several days before, bought a gift, and made our way to McKinley Park Residences.
Aly and Yayi were already busy preparing the decor when we got there. Yhow and I had to rush out again to buy food and drinks, which took us one hour, no thanks to that bucket of Jollibee chicken (35 minutes for 6pcs of chicken? What do you call Jollibee again? Fast food chain, wasn’t it?). We were back just in time to help pump air into some balloons, put up the decor, and prepare the food.
Aly and me, doing the “balloon pump” (LOL):

The transformation begins:

All the while, Apple (husband-to-be) was giving us details RE Mitch’s outfit (we wanted her to wear a dress Ü) and timetable. To our horror, he wasn’t able to delay the bride-to-be, so we were on our toes fixing whatever we could. A few minutes later, we got a call from the reception area saying that Mitch is on her way up. We were quietly scrambling (if that’s even possible) by the time Mitch rang the doorbell.

JunIn High Spirits
I’m so happy I feel like sprinkling fairy dust everywhere I go.
That is if the fairy dust ain’t glitters and/or small, sticky, shiny stuff. These past few weeks, I’ve been focusing on ditching the pessimist in me, it’s a battle I’m winning (Hurrah!). I mean, the world’s radically depressing only if you think of it as such, right? Once you get the hang of thinking in a really positive way, you also get the bonus of having your brain tweaked to not think negatively of other people. Pretty good deal, I tell you.
I’m only as good as my last thought. Lately, I couldn’t help but think about this line every time an odd situation would arise. I don’t know if it could be of any help to others, but it sure helps me a lot.
I don’t think this automatically makes me a good person per se. I think I’m just better. I like better.

May<cue waterworks>
My older brother posted this on my FB wall, along with a picture of me. *wipes tears* Best birthday greeting ever:
“Her name is Justine May,
A lovely lady which can brighten up everyone’s day,
Her jokes can break your jaw apart,
She is the second girl closest to my heart.
She is our beautiful princess,
Our foundation of success,
A pretty face with chubby cheeks,
And a feminine girl who can give your ass a few good kicks.
She is a unique woman among the rest,
And her passion and love for our family is relentless,
I am proud to say that she is my sister and that today is her day,
And this poem is created to greet her A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
-WE LOVE YOU SIS! mwah!
-wish you all the happiness in life…
-don’t worry sis, i got your back…”Yes, I am blessed.

MayLeaving
And coming back.
Not that I left, really. I took a break from blogging personal events, which actually gave way for me to produce some <add-a-good-adjective-here> posts (see my other blog).
You see, synchronization is something my brain cells failed to learn, so I write whatever can, whenever I can. I found out that when I write about one topic (an event, a person, an item, etc), one of my brain cells commit suicide. Then the topic slides in and out of my thoughts. Then my brain cells declare war. Then I raise a white flag and hit “delete post”.
Not this one, though. Not when I’m welcoming myself back to Tumblr-dom.

MayThis is why my Tumblr logs were on hiatus. Were, since I want my blogs to be active again.
Words are Yummy is where I post entries after taking a shot of vodka or after dancing my shoes off. Bah. Yes, I’m kidding. It’s a site where I’m allowed to create the illusion that I’m partly a writer. It’s where I could play with words. It’s a place where people could read about me without really knowing who I am. It’s where my brain takes a sip of coffee and just rests.
Go ahead, feel free to visit. :)
